Seth Rollins is one of the biggest current stars in WWE, though even with all his different characters and personas, his look has remained pretty similar all throughout his WWE run (aside from perhaps his recent foray into wacky and flashy clothing). However, at the start of his WWE run, Rollins sported quite a unique look which has just recently made a comeback. During his days in NXT, Rollins dyed half of his hair blonde, leaving a 50/50 blonde and dark hair combo. Some fans may wonder as to why Rollins made the decision to dye his hair in this fashion in the first place.
Seth Rollins Wanted To Stand Out In WWE Developmental
During his time on the independent scene and in the likes of Ring of Honor, Seth Rollins’ hair was not dyed at all, with this being something that came into existence during his time in WWE developmental. When he arrived there, he instantly stood out as an incredible in-ring performer, perhaps even at that point among the best in the world. However, for Rollins, that simply wasn’t enough for him in terms of making a name for himself and standing out from the crowd in the likes of FCW and NXT. His strive to be the best and to reach the top led to him dying his hair.

Speaking in an interview on WWE’s YouTube channel, Rollins was shown a picture of his old look in NXT. He reflected on the decision to dye his hair black, stating, “At the time there were so many guys in FCW who had long, dark hair and beard, and so I just wanted to do something to change it up, to stand out, you know, what's it gonna hurt to just color half my hair and see what happens - and it worked!” It is unsurprising when looking at some of the talent back in FCW at the time, with the likes of Roman Reigns, Bo Dallas, Adrian Neville, Derrick Bateman, Leo Kruger, and Kassius Ohno all fighting to earn a spot on the main roster, all of whom had long and dark hair. Rollins’ decision to dye his hair did in fact make him stand out from all of those who sported a similar look.
Seth Rollins Recently Brought Back The Blonde Hair
Seth Rollins would go on to become the first ever NXT Champion, and whilst he would have likely achieved that anyway, his dyed hair added something extra to his entire presentation that further propelled him up the card. It wasn’t long until he was on the main roster as part of The Shield and then as WWE Champion following his win at WrestleMania 31. Over time, the blonde streak went away as he became a defined name on Raw and SmackDown without the need for extra blonde in his hairstyle.

Rollins noted that the blonde streak has been a favorite for many fans, explaining, “It's funny, more than anything now, the question I get more than anything is ‘when are you gonna bring the blonde streak back?’” That question has finally been answered, as Rollins has brought back the blonde in his hair. Upon a face turn at the end of 2022, Rollins won the United States Championship with his classic style, perhaps indicating a rebirth or a fresh start to his time in WWE. The response to this new style has split some fans, with GiveMeSport.com detailing some backlash Rollins has received online following the reveal of his blonde streak, however it doesn’t affect what he does inside the ring, as he is consistently one of the highlights of Monday Night Raw. Whether it be his highlight reel of matches or highlight in his hair, Rollins always has fans talking regardless.
