Water Treatment Plant Puzzle Guide (Walkthrough & Rewards)

The Water Treatment Plant is a massive Monument in Rust that features a high concentration of loot crates scattered about the zone. This Monument has a low radiation hazard and does not spawn any hostile Scientists, making it moderately accessible to any type of survivor. However, this also means that the area is a "hotspot" for hostility, as players rush into the Water Treatment Plant in Rust to claim all the best loot for themselves.

The Water Treatment Plant can spawn up to 30 crates of loot within its vicinity, including military containers, medical supplies, food boxes, and basic storage bins. While most of the goods are accessible in unrestricted areas, those aiming to plunder the puzzle room in this Monument will need to procure a Blue Keycard and Electric Fuse. Blue Keycards can spawn in the Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish, and Harbor, or they can be purchased from the Outpost for Scrap ×100. On the other hand, Electric Fuses randomly spawn within crates and barrels and have a slight chance of being dropped by a Scientist. Once players have these two items, they'll be ready to solve the Water Treatment Plant Puzzle in Rust.

While it is not required, Rust survivors are advised to arm themselves with a ranged weapon before embarking on their journey to the Water Treatment Plant. As mentioned above, this Monument is a popular spot for hostile players to contest for loot, meaning that those without a firearm will not have a way to ward off opponents.

How To Complete The Water Treatment Plant Puzzle in Rust

To complete the Water Treatment Plant Puzzle in Rust, first head to the large two-story warehouse in the center of the Monument. Next, use the wheel on the eastern side of the building to open the garage doors and ascend the staircase to the upper level. Within the room with the Repair Bench, players will find an open generator where they can place their Fuse item in Rust to activate a switch.

Next, head out the doorway on the left, circle around the balcony to the east side, and leap off. Continue eastward to the building in the distance with the Recycler. Ascend the ladder and stairway in the back to find a locked blue door. Use the Blue Keycard to enter inside and loot the Red Keycard on the office table in the innermost room. Be cautious since it's possible to receive some radiation poisoning in this building. To exit the structure, flip the switch near the Red Keycard's desk to re-open the blue doorway.
