Lacey Evans Claims She Requested Her Release, Admits She Wasn't Cut Out For WWE

Lacey Evans' stop-start return to WWE came to an end earlier this year after WWE confirmed the former Superstar had been released from her contract. Assuming Evans is bound by the same 90-day non-compete clause most main roster stars are bound by, she won't be able to wrestle for at least another month. Evans is allowed to speak about her time with WWE if she wants to though, and it sounds like she might not be wrestling again even after her non-compete clause has run its course.

Requesting Her Release

Speaking on Road Trip with Teddy Long and Mac Davis (via WrestleZone), Evans explained why, despite wrestling there for seven years, the WWE lifestyle wasn't for her. "My idea of a perfect life was not running around in red carpets and sniffing people’s asses for opportunities. I’m not cut out for that unfortunately," Evans explained. However, she refused to rule out a return to the ring with a lighter schedule in the future.

The belief was that Evans' contract came to a natural conclusion and she and WWE couldn't come to terms on a new deal. However, Evans has disputed those claims, revealing she actually requested her release. "I don’t know if people realize [this], I’m one mean son of a gun. And I think that was probably my fault, at requesting my release," Evans revealed, although she did add there are no hard feelings between her and WWE.

Wrestling Elsewhere

It really will take a tempting offer from elsewhere to get Evans back in the ring as the Southern Belle also revealed she actually took a pay cut when she signed with WWE. Evans claims she was earning six figures through her own business prior to becoming a pro wrestler and her goal was to help her community through working with WWE. Only Evans and those closest to her will know if she achieved that, although I'm assuming since she requested to leave the company that she did.

Also speaking on what would get her back in the ring, Evans joked that a match against Sgt. Slaughter's daughter would be a good opponent. The last few times we saw Evans in WWE she was channeling her legitimate marine background. The gimmick was reminiscent of Slaughter's from 30 years ago and the Hall of Famer didn't like out, going public with his thoughts about WWE's work with Evans. While I'm not the biggest fan of Evans, her using a marine gimmick fits the mold a lot more than Slaughter since Evans actually used to be one.
