Last month, Maryse, a former WWE Divas Champion and wife of The Miz, took to Instagram to reveal that she was diagnosed with a “very rare pre-cancer of the ovaries”. Now, after surgery, she has posted an update to Instagram, announcing the great news that she is tumor free. Maryse wrote:

“As you know, 2 weeks ago I went in to surgery to have my ovaries/uterus/tubes/cervix/omentum removed. I also had staging (removal) of the lymph nodes in my abdomen to see if the disease had spread.

Pathology confirmed that it had not which is amazing news! More amazing news is that I am tumor free! The diagnosis did confirm that I had Primary Peritoneal Serous Borderline Tumors with involvement of ovaries/uterus/tubes!

Just to give you an idea of the rarity – 7 cases per million of women in the US per year! The fact that we not only found this but found this at this manageable stage is unbelievable and literally saved my life as this would have most likely been lethal.

Next, I will continue to rest following my surgery and then will follow up with specialists at MD Anderson in Houston.

Maryse Struggled For Months To Get Doctors To Take Her Symptoms Seriously

Maryse was a two-time WWE Divas Champion during her five-year run in the company during the 2000s. After leaving in 2011, she returned years later to manage her husband, The Miz. The couple married in 2014 and now have two children. Maryse also gained attention with her reality TV show, Miz & Mrs.

In February, Maryse went into great detail about a shocking health scare on Instagram. She revealed that she had been dealing with abdominal distention and swelling, along with fatigue, for months. Doctors could find nothing wrong in tests and told her it was "probably hormonal", only for an OB/GYN to perform a laparoscopy and find that Maryse had eleven pre-cancerous tumors around her uterus and ovaries. Maryse wrote:

“I’m remaining positive and determined to beat this thing. There is only one option and it’s winning this battle! As a mom of two young daughters, I have to.”
