Cody Rhodes Teases He Could Be On Cover Of WWE 2K23

WWE is certainly putting all of its marketing efforts behind Cody Rhodes. After bringing him back to WWE and over from AEW, it's a wise marketing decision to capitalize on someone they are paying big bucks for and WWE wants to showcase him as a talent they scooped from their competitor.
Cody has been on the cover of many posters, the face of many ads and event promotions, and marched out on television in every high-profile segment WWE can get him in since he returned at this past WrestleMania. It doesn't look like they're going to stop promoting him and the plan to get their return on investment seems to be in full swing. The latest example actually comes from a tease Cody himself offered up.
In a social media post on Tuesday, when asked if he would grace the cover of WWE2K23, Cody responded, "I don’t know the talented folks at @WWEgames - but I’m a pretty decent gambler and I would bet they’re working very hard on something special for pro wrestling fans." The response comes after it was learned WWE asked if they could get Cody into the WWE2K22 game but there wasn't enough time to properly insert him given the release date of the game and his signing with WWE.

It appears WWE is making up for that next year if Cody's tease is to be believed.
Being On The Cover Is A Big Deal
When WWE selects the stars that are on the cover of each year's respective game, they take careful time to consider who should be selected. That it might be Cody speaks a lot to how they view him as part of the roster. Not only is he a big get from AEW, but he's a legitimate top-level star and WWE wants to have fans view him as such. The cover of their highly-anticipated game each year is a great way to do that.
