Candice LeRae's NXT Contract Has Not Been Extended

2021 has been a year of change in NXT. Earlier this year the brand underwent an entire revamp. Its logo, arena, and even its roster is drastically different from how it all looked this time last year. Some wrestlers have left altogether or been released. Adam Cole let his contract expire and is now All Elite, while Bronson Reed and Mercedes Martinez are among some of the NXT talents to have been let go this year.
Candice LeRae's Contract
Following WarGames and this week's edition of NXT, it seems as if Johnny Gargano and Kyle O'Reilly are also on their way out of the NXT door. Both Superstars' contracts come to an end this week, and the way the latest episode was framed makes it seems as if neither will be back. The door was left open for Gargano though whose goodbye promo ended via an attack by Grayson Waller.

While Gargano's NXT deal is coming to an end, his wife Candice LeRae is still tied to the brand. LeRae is currently pregnant and as Gargano touched upon on Tuesday night, their baby is due to arrive in February 2022. It was assumed LeRae's contract had been frozen while she's pregnant, but according to Fightful Select (via Cultaholic) that's not the case.
Could She Be Leaving NXT?
LeRae's current deal is reportedly due to expire in the spring of 2022, and at the time of typing this, no time has been tacked onto the end of that. Should that remain the situation for the next few months, there's a chance LeRae may have also wrestled her last match in NXT too. As it stands, LeRae's last match in NXT was back in July when she and Indi Hartwell dropped the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles to Zoey Stark and Io Shirai.
The same report from Fightful also states WWE is yet to try and sign LeRae to a new deal. As has been showcased already on multiple occasions this year, it's probably a little early for WWE to go down that road. However, if Gargano, Cole, and O'Reilly have taught them anything, it's that they should really start those contract talks as soon as possible. Especially in this instance as LeRae will have very little time to negotiate a new deal in the spring with a newborn in the house.
