Befittingly, Big Brother 17 featured 17 contestants competing for the grand cash prize of $500,000. Here’s every houseguest and who won the season.
Here’s a recap of all the contestants who competed in Big Brother 17, plus the houseguest who won the season. Presented by long-time host Julie Chen, the seventeenth edition of reality TV show Big Brother aired in 2015. Befittingly, the season featured 17 houseguests –which was then the biggest number of contestants ever crammed into the house in the U.S. version of Big Brother. As with past seasons, those 17 contestants competed to avoid elimination week by week in hopes of winning the grand cash prize of $500,000.
Big Brother 17 introduced a brand-new twist called BB Takeover that saw a surprise guest announce a new task or twist the houseguests would take part in. New Zealand TV presenter Phil Keoghan - of fellow reality show The Amazing Race - actress and comedian Kathy Griffin and NFL player Rob Gronkowski all appeared as guests, but the BB Takeover twist was abandoned just three weeks into the show to concentrate on other elements of the game.
Another twist harked back to Big Brother 5’s Project DNA twist which saw sets of siblings enter the house together. Titled the Twin Twist, Big Brother 17’s version featured identical twins Liz and Julia Nolan competing as one person and secretly switching places with each other in the Diary Room for the first five weeks of the season, after which they competed separately. Alongside the Nolan twins, here’s a rundown of all the contestants in order of their eviction, finishing with who won Big Brother 17.
Jason "Jace" Agolli
Da'Vonne Rogers
Jeff Weldon
Audrey Middleton
Jason Roy
Clay Honeycutt
Shelli Poole
Jackie Ibarra
Becky Burgess
Meg Maley
James Huling
Julia Nolan
Austin Matelson
John McGuire
Vanessa Rousso
Liz Nolan
Winner: Steve Moses
Personal trainer Jason “Jace” Agolli was the first houseguest evicted on day 15, swiftly followed by poker dealer Da’Vonne Rogers on day 22. Professional poker player Vanessa Rousso, twin Liz Nolan and then college student Steve Moses made it to the Big Brother 17 final but it was the latter who won the season and took home $500,000 after receiving the most votes from a jury made up of former houseguests.
Although he was evicted on day 78, houseguest James Huling didn’t go home empty-handed after being voted America’s Favorite Houseguest by viewers and winning $25,000. Huling also returned the following year to compete in Big Brother 18 alongside fellow houseguest Da’Vonne Rogers. Other non-winning Big Brother 17 houseguests went on to appear in other reality TV shows, like Jason Roy who was a contestant on spinoff series Big Brother: Over The Top and twins Liza and Julia Nolan who competed on MTV’s The Challenge with fellow Big Brother alum Da’Vonne Rogers.
