10 Becky Lynch Vs. Asuka, WWE Royal Rumble 2019

On a night where Becky Lynch would go on to win the Royal Rumble match, she suffered a setback earlier on in the evening as she lost to Asuka in a bout for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. With Lynch’s popularity at the time, the crowd were wild for this one, and it helped to make this fluid, well-wrestled match even better. There were some great technical exchanges, with Asuka being presented like a huge hurdle that ultimately Lynch couldn’t overcome. The clean result was a surprise, but it helped to add a misdirect into expectations for the Rumble match later in the night.

A lot of crazy bumps, a high level of physicality, and a hot crowd all made for a fantastic TLC match between three of WWE’s best. Like most TLC matches there were some contrived spots, but for the most part they did well to avoid this. The story managed to remain the focus, with the feud between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair acting as a focus, in addition to the interfering Ronda Rousey which made sense. It allowed Asuka the chance to win her first main roster title in a great moment.

The story of hatred between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair heading into this blurred the lines between reality and kayfabe, with an awkward on-screen segment seemingly fracturing their relationship for good. They played into this and went all out in a physical, brutal match where both were left red-faced and angry. It was the only match on the night that really got fans invested, and even though it was clear that not everything was smooth, it added into the realism behind their distaste for one another.

7 Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair Vs. Sasha Banks, WWE WrestleMania 32

It must be said that this wasn’t the cleanest of matches, with some botches here and there and over-choreographed moments, but this had the aura of being one of the most important women’s matches ever, and it delivered. The biggest moves and moments hit the mark, and the crowd responded with a whole lot of love for these women as they retired the “Divas division” and brought in the “women’s division” at WWE WrestleMania 32. Ric Flair’s interference was jarring but necessary to add heat to Charlotte Flair’s unpopular victory.

This was the only time in WWE history that the Four Horsewomen fought in a fatal four way, and it was certainly special. Even though everyone wasn’t a polished star just yet, they delivered a crisp match with great sequences and a very strong pace. The feud between Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair was the main focus here, with their relationship and hatred getting progressively worse. Banks managed to steal the victory, becoming a star in the process. Some of the moments did feel a little practiced and performed, but it did this better than say the WrestleMania 32 triple threat, with less botches. The smaller NXT crowd loved every moment of this, with it helping to further grow a budding women’s division.

5 Becky Lynch Vs. Trish Stratus, WWE Payback 2023

Even though this feud lost some steam in the build up, the rivalry-ender was an absolute blast. For what felt like the first time in years, the Steel Cage structure felt like a match type that was worthy of finishing a feud. The cage was used as a weapon, the two in the ring ramped up the physicality, and it made for a thrilling, intense matchup. The huge, swelling bump of Trish Stratus’ head was genuinely scary to witness, adding authenticity to this bout. Some big spots from the top rope, some brutal spots with the cage, and some ingenious spots crafted by those involved made for the best Steel Cage match in a long time in WWE.

4 Becky Lynch Vs. Sasha Banks, WWE Hell In A Cell 2019

Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks is an often forgotten match due to the fact that the main event led to this being viewed as one of the worst shows in WWE history. In actual fact though, the Cell match between Lynch and Banks should be viewed as an instant classic. There were some bonkers spots in this match such as the ladder meteora, the Bexploder onto the chairs, and a crazy dropkick off the apron. This certainly lived up to the Hell in a Cell stipulation, and the final stretch was very entertaining.

3 Becky Lynch Vs. Bianca Belair, WWE WrestleMania 38 Saturday

It did take the crowd a little while to fully get into this match, but when they did and the pace ramped up, it quickly became one of the show-stealers from WrestleMania weekend. The storyline going in with Belair looking for redemption was great, and this was displayed in the match, with a brilliant false finish in the early stages of the bout, calling back to their previous encounter. In the end, they traded their big moves to huge pops, before Belair finally picked up the win in a hard-hitting bout, hitting perhaps the greatest KOD of all time and securing the Raw Women’s Championship.

Prior to this match, Becky Lynch was fourth fiddle in the Four Horsewomen. She made herself a star here. Her match with Sasha Banks was a masterpiece, with Lynch putting in so much fight and effort, making herself known on the NXT stage. The work on Lynch’s arm throughout was expertly done, with Banks looking like a technical wizard. Lynch’s strain and struggle through this pain got the fans invested, and by the time this was over Lynch received a well deserved standing ovation. This is an often overlooked NXT women’s match, but it is among the very best for sure.

Women’s wrestling in WWE was at perhaps its hottest in 2018, and this feud was the proof of that. Lynch and Flair stole the show in a violent, spot-filled Last Woman Standing match that was arguably one of the best in this stipulation’s history. The great leg drop, a massive swanton bomb, and more made for an epic battle. They went all out here, with a lot of great storytelling, selling, and a desperation to score the victory. It should have main evented this PPV, but either way it stole the show.
