Spear, one of the most devastating maneuvers in professional wrestling, is used by several noteworthy Superstars. While running towards the opponent at a great speed, a Spear is delivered by tackling the opponent with the shoulder. The move is inspired by the tackle in football.

Among the current pool of wrestlers, Roman Reigns uses it as the finishing move. However, the move was made popular by Goldberg, who dismantled everyone with it in WCW, making it a frightening move. Besides Goldberg, Edge also used it since making his debut.

Before Goldberg entered the world of professional wrestling, he was a football player, playing in NFL. His football career at the top lasted five years, but an injury forced him to quit the sport. Goldberg played in the position of defensive tackle, where Spear is often used to tackle the opponent players.

Goldberg mastered the art of Spear, way before he became a wrestler. From using it at the top of the NFL to the top of professional wrestling, the experience certainly made his Spear superior.
