Scott Steiner has had his fair share of ups and downs in the wrestling industry. WCW was the place where Steiner made his biggest impact as both a legendary tag team wrestler with his brother Rick and as a singles star as WCW Champion. The stints in WWE had a combination of positive and negative moments.

TNA has been the main promotion to spotlight Steiner in recent years. 10 Joining Immortal

The tension between Hulk Hogan and Scott Steiner started during their time working together in TNA. Steiner joined Hogan’s Immortal faction as one of the secondary members meant to add depth as a threat to the rest of the roster.

The end of Steiner’s TNA time saw him trashing Hogan in public for being the cause of the company’s downfall. Steiner having to work directly with someone he hated just weeks later led to an embarrassing time in his career.

9 Starrcade Main Event Vs Sid

Scott Steiner reached the top spot in WCW towards the end of the company’s run. The accomplishments of winning the WCW Championship and main-eventing Starrcade came in 2000 but did not always have positive results.

Sid Vicious challenged Steiner in the terrible main event of the final Starrcade event. Steiner did not make the most of his only time main-eventing the biggest show of the year. The performance was embarrassing for both wrestlers.

8 Faking Retirement

WCW often ran angles with swerves meant to fool the audience. Scott Steiner claimed he was going to retire in 1999 after suffering an injury and returning for one final speech. This was obviously a huge fakeout with Steiner attacking Sid Vicious to reveal he was still wrestling.

Steiner could have made it work better, but WCW already did too many storylines like it in the prior months. The segment just made Steiner look like a fool for trying to trick people into believing something that was obvious.

7 Harassing Kristal Marshall

The TNA run of Scott Steiner saw some of his programs completely missing the mark. Steiner’s feud with Bobby Lashley might have been the worst when he started harassing Lashley’s then-wife and manager Kristal Marshall.

The segments featured Steiner crossing the line with comments or actions that should not have taken place on television just to get cheap heat. Fans didn’t even care about the match by the time it came around due to the build.

6 Political Debate

WWE tried to elevate Tough Enough season one competitor Chris Nowinski by putting him in a short program with Scott Steiner. The promos between the two became political with both men having differing views on the Iraq War.

Steiner was treated like the face for wanting war which looks a bit odd watching back today. The segment is something WWE likely wants to avoid letting fans find unless going out of their way to watch it. Steiner had many strengths, but debating politics was not one of them.

5 Disappointing Title Match With Ric Flair

The first major main event match of Scott Steiner’s career came when challenging Ric Flair for the WCW Championship in a draw at Clash of the Champions XIV. WCW wanted to see if Steiner could thrive against Flair the way Sting and Lex Luger did before their main event runs.

Steiner felt that the match turned out as an embarrassment due to Flair intentionally trying to sabotage the match. Other wrestlers like Lance Storm felt the same way watching it back, but that doesn’t make it any less embarrassing for Steiner who had huge heat with Flair afterwards.

4 Comedy Segments With Buff Bagwell

WCW changed things up with Scott Steiner turning heel on his brother Rick to join the New World Order. The singles push for Steiner didn’t come right away as he teamed up with Buff Bagwell for many months.

Bagwell and Steiner had many comedic segments together playing over-the-top heels. The duo even fired a fake doctor to get out of matches in brutal promos that missed the mark. Steiner’s momentum was wasted as he waited a while before moving forward in a singles role.

3 Attacking Stacy Keibler To Team With Test

WWE ran a long angle of Stacy Keibler managing Test and Scott Steiner at different points leading to their feud. Steiner was the face Stacy chose after Test turned heel, leading to many matches between the two.

Test eventually won matches, forcing both Steiner and Keibler to be his lackeys. However, Steiner would turn on Stacy by attacking her following a loss. The low moment didn’t even get them much heat as Test and Steiner’s tag run ended quietly after a few weeks.

2 Shoot Promo On Diamond Dallas Page & Kimberly Page

Scott Steiner developed a reputation of cutting shoot promos in WCW during his main event run. One of the worst instances of Steiner targeting co-workers he had problems with saw Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly Page feeling his wrath.

Steiner was upset at Kimberly for informing management of Tammy Sytch having drugs in the locker room, leading to her release. The promo ripping Kimberly apart led to DDP confronting Scott backstage. Steiner and Page got into a fight with Steiner brutally attacking him.

1 Title Match With Triple H

The signing of Scott Steiner placed him in a feud with Triple H to start things off challenging for the World Championship. Triple H and Steiner struggled from the start with all their promo segments causing the audience to lose interest.

The first match between the two at the 2003 Royal Rumble event ended in DQ and was considered the worst match of the year by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Triple H winning the big rematch one month later was another disaster that sank Steiner’s momentum in WWE.
